eTwinning Italy in
collaboration with the European unit, organized the thematic conference “Empowering eTwinning Schools: Leading,
Learning, Sharing” in Rome at the Trevi fountain conference centre from 14 to
16 May.
The key theme of the
conference was the eTwinning
school recognition, introduced for the first time during the school year
2017/18 which is awarded to schools implementing competencies-based
curricula and project-based teaching, strongly characterized by the use of the
Internet and digital technologies with a special focus on safety and eSafety.
The event addresses these issues through experts’ talks and
training activities included in the workshops.
More than 250 delegates, coming from all over the world,
including representatives of the European commission, the executive agency and
delegates from the countries adhering to the eTwinning and eTwinning Plus
actions, participated. Team from Azerbaijan is represented by two Principals –
Aygun MIkayilova, principal of Baku European Lyceum and Goncha Saftarova, principal
of Sumgayit Tafakkur Lyceum. Both lyceums got eTwinning school label this year.
The eTwinning School Label was
introduced in 2017 to recognize and reward the involvement, commitment, and
dedication of not only individual eTwinning teachers, but also teams of
teachers and school leaders within the same school. The application process for
the label began in December 2017 and closed in March 2018. Overall, 2600
schools applied for the label. We have 6 winning schools with
eTwinning school label.
